SOUTHAMPTON-based Southern Electric Contracting has won a £1 million contract to refurbish training support services for pilots flying the Army's new attack helicopter.
The deal comes under a partnering agreement between the Ministry of Defence and Hampshire contractor Warings to refurbish the giant helicopter hangar and associated works at the Middle Wallop Army School of Aviation.
Southern Electric Contracting's contract will involve a number of specialist businesses.
Inside the hangar the company will be involved in installation of power and lighting for office accommodation, specialist power supply, high bay lighting and a flame detection and fire suppression system.
Externally the company is to install 30 closed circuit security television cameras, and intruder alarm.
