LIFE on the ocean waves got off to a flying start for the new Gosport Rescue 3 lifeboat. The boat will carry a team of trained divers to take part in underwater search-and-rescue operations.
She has a top rate of 30 knots, carries three radios and will normally be crewed by two people unless divers are needed on board.
The boat has been donated to Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (Gafirs) by the EB Wrightson Trust. The Rev Di Wood dedicated Gosport Rescue 3 at a special service at Stokes Bay, which was attended by the mayors of Fareham and Gosport and Gafirs chairman John Lee.
