A TEAM SOLENT trio will be aiming for a Fast Track and smiling for the cameras in the season's first big domestic meet tomorrow.
Ashley Swain, Angus McLean and Chris Bennett all get their first taste of big time track & field with their selection for the Great Britain Under-20 team for the five-handed event at Loughborough University, which will be televised.
Team Solent president Alan Pascoe is the moving force behind the Fast Track group responsible for promoting British athletics, and they have helped get it back on terrestrial TV through the BBC.
Talented pole-vaulter Swain is the most experienced of the trio, with two seasons of British League competition behind him. Bennett will go in the 4x400m relay as well as the invitation 200m, while McLean will compete in the 1500m against England, Scotland, Loughborough University and the Great Britain Students.
Team Solent clubmate Jamie Henthorn undertakes the 200m for the Students, with Melanie Purkiss competing for Loughborough in the 100m and 200m, and Katie Sketchley will don an England vest for the 100m hurdles.
Tim O'Dell has been added to the grid for the invitation 400m as well as the England 4x400m team.
Team Solent's women's team will battle with the FA Cup final traffic tomorrow as they compete in their Southern League Division 1 match at Barnet Copthall. Shaftesbury Barnet, Thurrock, Bournemouth and Bedford provide the opposition for Solent who won their first match in the league.
