CRAFTWORK: One of the sculptures by Jonathan Cox on display at Winchester Cathedral.
VISITORS to Winchester Cathedral will be not just be marvelling over the craftwork of the building over the next few months.
For they will have the chance to see grand sculptural works in an exhibition entitled the Heart of Hampshire.
The Hampshire Sculpture Trust has staged the works of five local artists who have produced their works with a religious and spiritual feel to them.
However, not all the artists are pleased with the way the sculptures have been displayed.
Susan Hitching from Sparsholt, near Winchester, is dismayed to see that two steel parts of her sculpture have had a wire mesh fence put around it for health and safety reasons.
She said: "The netting is detracting from the sculpture, and I really am disappointed that it has to be there.
"I've had complaints from other people, too, that it dis-torts the work."
Other exhibitors include John Andrew, Jonathan Cox, Rachel Fenner and Clare Straiton.
The exhibition will be displayed until July 6 and will be open daily from dawn to dusk on the Church House Lawn of the cathedral's Inner Close.
