LAUNCH: John Morrell of Meridian, Kiki Maurey of Common Purpose and Howard Newby, vice-chancellor at Southampton University and chairman of Common Purpose.
A MANAGEMENT education charity set up to uncover the main issues affecting Southampton has launched this year's programme.
Around 50 senior leaders from the public, private and voluntary sector attending a breakfast presentation for Common Purpose.
The organisation is based on an idea-sharing scheme to broaden the views and understanding of senior decision-makers in the area.
Participants will take part in a unique residential programme on a range of subjects from local government and housing to the environment and health. This is followed up by monthly meetings with the rest of the group. At the launch Penny Orme, head-teacher at Townhill Infant School, Geoff Glover, human resources manager at Ford, and Andy McPherson, vicar of Weston, spoke about their experiences of Common Purpose.
