ANNA Valley engineer John Wilson's services to the television industry have received the royal seal of approval.
The 73-year-old's passion was recently recognised with an OBE, which he collected from the Queen at Buck-ingham Palace with his wife Jacquie.
John, who retired as president of the International Broadcast Co-operation Partnership, still exhibits technology for the industry.
He showed his aptitude for the trade at an early age when he built a TV set while still at school.
After completing his education as an engineer studying telecommunications in London, John served as a signals officer in the RAF.
His toughest task during the time was convincing the air force that warm winter clothes were needed for some abnormal Cypriot winter weather.
