UNDER FIRE Saints chairman Rupert Lowe has come out fighting - claiming it is not in the interests of the club for him to step down.
The beleaguered Saints chief called for unity and said he believes his departure would only bring "instability at the very time we need it most".
He added: "I do not think that it is in the club's best interests for me to step down at the moment.
Lowe's defiant words come hard on the heels of major new investor Leon Crouch's demands for him to go in yesterday's Daily Echo.
