James Purchase and Ian Hissett took the blue ribbon Senior K2 trophy in the Waterside series of canoe races on Sunday.
Having won through four gruelling races in 12 hours eight minutes, they now progress to the 125-mile Westminster marathon race in a fortnight's time.
Also racing then are Mike Tonkin and Martin Smith.
In the team trophy, Southampton Canoe Club were on the wrong end of an upset when a team from Taunton and Tonbridge came from behind to take the Waterside series trophy.
Having led for the three previous races, and entering the race with a 20-minute cushion, Southampton could only watch as Taunton passed them.
The Waterside races are a series of events that are run along the Kennet and Avon Canal around Newbury, starting with a 12-mile race and ending up with the fearsome D, which is a 35-mile five-hour epic.
Southampton's team included Leon Nicholson, Richard Kent, Steven Willis, Mike Tonkin, Martin Smith and James Hinves.
