Ropley lead with one to go
ROPLEY underlined their Saturday Division championship ambitions with a 2-1 win over third-placed Sparsholt last Saturday.
After dominating the first quarter of an hour Ropley took the lead through Steven Seer. Jim Sherwood equalised on the hour, but with fifteen minutes to go a James Archer goal sent the three points heading back to Ropley. Nicky Cook was Sparsholt's best player on the day.
Neal Tabbitt scored the consolation goal for Sutton Scotney, who went down 5-1 to second-placed Twyford.
With just one match to play Ropley are four points clear of Twyford and seven clear of Sparsholt - but either or both could overhaul the leaders with the advantage of three games in hand.
Alex Hopkins Cup
The Winchester League's involvement in this Cup, contested against Andover League teams, ended at the semi-final stage last Saturday.
AGCC Worthy Down went down 4-0 to a strong Wherwell side who fully deserved thier victory, while Crusaders were slain 2-0 by Borough Arms.
Sunday Division 1
Twyford Rovers Reserves beat Coach House Inn 4-1, with Mike Mills (2), Steve Church and an own-goal making up the Rovers tally.
Jossy's Giants were three up at the break thanks to goals from Ben Reeves, Dean Platt and Jamie Platt. But New Clock Inn roared back to draw 3-3 with Aaron Leavers, Dan Slack and Neil Ingram on target.
Sunday Division 2
Chris Gaiger scored for Bitterne in their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Exchange Reserves.
Hurricans' ten men, meanwhile, did well to restrict Medstead to a 6-0 victory.
