TRIBUTES have been paid to a Hampshire clergyman who has lost his battle against leukaemia.
The Rev Terry Abernethy rector of Beaulieu, Exbury and East Boldre, died in Southampton General Hospital, with his wife Sue at his side.
Mr Abernethy, who was in his early 60s, moved to the New Forest from Bermuda in 1984.
Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, 79, said: "The Rev Abernethy was a very popular and most successful vicar.
"With the support of his wife he devoted himself to his three parishes with commendable skill and energy for many years. He will be greatly missed by everyone."
