A HAMPSHIRE charity wants the entire county to go silly sock crazy for one day next month in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for autistic adults and children.
Whiteley-based Hampshire Autistic Society has launched its first ever Silly Sock Day to coincide with Autism Awareness Month in May.
Staff at Smith & Williamson in Southampton and other businesses have already got involved in the event, which will see dull socks ditched in favour of the wildest and wackiest versions possible on Friday, May 5.
Events fundraiser Natasha Hitchings said: "We are asking families, schools and businesses to participate.
"The idea is that instead of wearing your boring dark coloured socks you wear silly colourful socks and donate £1 to the charity.
"We will ask people to send pictures in of them in their socks for our website and the person wearing the silliest socks will win a prize."
