A GROUP of junior wardens got closer to nature during a fun-filled day on Southampton Common.
A wildlife experience was on the agenda for the wardens, from Southampton City Council, when they visited The Hawthorn Urban Centre this week.
Pete Lodwidge, senior neighbourhood warden, who accompanied the juniors, said: "This was a great opportunity for the juniors to have first-hand knowledge about different types of wildlife and learn the dos and don'ts of working with nature."
Junior wardens took part in a range of activities, including a story of the history of the Common as well as being shown different varieties of trees, animals, berries and wildlife that inhabit the area.
