AN award-winning firm is planning to use pedal power to cut congestion in the New Forest.
The Country Lanes cycle hire company is inviting visitors to the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, to tour the rest of the area by bicycle.
Based in one of the museum's car parks, the park-and-pedal scheme is due to be launched tomorrow.
Instead of getting back behind the wheel visitors will be able to leave their car at the museum and explore the countryside using trek bikes.
Company founder Susan Achmatowicz said: "This is an exciting concept that recognises the role the car has to play within our society but seeks to minimise the damage to rural roads.
"We are encouraging visitors to the museum to leave their vehicles and tour the area by bike to reduce traffic congestion.
"There's a selection of well researched routes that are suitable for people of all ages and abilities."
In April last year Country Lanes was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in recognition of its outstanding contribution to sustainable development.
