Sir.-I read with interest, and sadness, The Gazette's article about Basingstoke good samaritan David Kemsler MBE and his impending bankruptcy.
David and The Link, which he started, have been a great support to many charities, organisations, schools, churches etc.
He has worked tirelessly over the past 15 years in supplying surplus office furniture, stationery and the like to so many people.
He has saved them many thousands of pounds, which many may not have been able to afford and certainly a lot of fundraising would have had to have been done to raise the funds needed.
Also, he has saved the environment a great deal after all his recycling of these items. Items which could have ended up in landfill sites have been put to excellent use.
The sad part is I am sure the people he has supported weren't aware of the financial situation he has put himself in by helping others.
I was shocked, as were many others, to think he owed so much - the community owes him so much.
David's phone number was one I carried around with me and I have given it out to many organisations who needed his help. Now he needs help.
What can be done, or is this service going to stop? I hope not.
-Cllr David A Leeks, associated to many charities and organisations that David Kamsler has helped.
