A TEENAGER who suffered from kidney problems when he was born has raised more than £150 for a kidney charity by organising a concert at his school.
Fourteen-year-old Marc Armitt, of Abbey Road, Popley, Basingstoke, put together the rock concert at The Vyne Community School.
Marc, who plays the drums, also performed at the event with his band, SOS Nimo, and persuaded other youngsters at the school to give up their time to play for charity.
Five bands featuring pupils from all year groups at the school in Oakridge, Basingstoke, played in the concert and covered songs by a range of groups including Green Day and Blink 182.
Marc, who was born with an enlarged kidney and had to have treatment in hospital as a baby, decided to organise the concert to help other kidney patients and to give pupils at his school an event he knew they would enjoy.
The Year 10 pupil said: "I had to have help with my kidneys when I was born and I wanted to do something for other people with kidney problems.
"Also, most of the concerts at my school have quieter music and not many of my friends go so I wanted a night for us.
"The money will be going to a kidney charity."
