Children aged from three to 12 at the Woodhill School, Chandler's Ford recently got to experience Tri-Golf for the first time when Chandler's Ford Golf Academy paid them a visit, writes Marcus Wellstead.
Tri-Golf is a new concept initiated by the academy, which is aimed to get children of all ages interested in the game. As Kevin Caplehorn, a club instructor explained: "Tri-Golf is a safe and enjoyable way of introducing children to golf with the emphasis being on golf as an activity rather than a sport."
The equipment includes plastic irons, putters and balls, with all manner of interesting loops and cones for children to tackle. There is even a team game called 'Bomb The Base' where children hit balls into the other teams' territory to win points.
Tri-Golf has already been recommended by Nick Faldo and is endorsed by the PGA European Tour. Kevin, along with fellow golf instructors Clive Staddon, Paul Blake and Darren Bailey would love to hear from other interested schools. It certainly proved a big hit at Woodhill!
