THERE were more than 250 competitors when Matchams Park hosted the second round of the Ringwood Youth and Motocross Club BSMA and club championship.
Local lad Kristian Whatley claimed two wins in the AMX group but Portsmouth's Nick Watts prevented a race hat-trick.
Brett Wheeler was second overall with two fourths and a second with Ryan Cocklewaite third with two thirds and a fifth.
Adrian Cowshall won the first two races in the VMX class before a blown engine in the third cost him any chance of overall victory.
That went to Martin Leer, with two seconds and a third, with Dave Lopez second from Shaun Brooker, who won the third race.
In the seniors, Ross Hill claimed overall victory with two wins and a second. David Games had won the first race but failed to finish the next two.
James Cole was runner-up with two thirds and a fourth.
Lewis Trickett was unstoppable when the gates dropped on the big wheel 85 race, taking the win and finishing second in the next race.
He failed to finish the third race, leaving Lewis Tombs the overall winner from Lewis Abbott.
Robbie Muscatt won the overall small-wheel 85 event from Essex's Harry Noakes.
Frazer Viner dominated the junior 65 class to win from visitor Max Acres with Ringwood's Jack Jenner third.
The deep sand of Matchams never does the auto riders, the smallest line-up, any favours - but all 12 deserved praise.
David Keet recorded his first ever win in leg one and went on to claim maximum points.
The club's next meeting takes place this Sunday due to Henstridge, in Dorset, being waterlogged.
