MORE than 600 youngsters are due to attend the annual Junior Citizen Event at Fareham's Fort Nelson from Monday.
The event has been organised to give the children the opportunity to develop life skills so they can cope with emergencies and other situations which might arise.
They will be meeting staff from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, Hampshire police, the county council road safety team, Hampshire Ambulance, animal wardens, and many more.
The week-long event has been organised by Gosport Borough Council and is being held at Fort Nelson on Portsdown Hill.
Schools taking part include, Lee-on-the-Solent, Leesland, Brockhurst, Grange, Siskin and Gomer Junior schools.
Event organiser Sue Butler said: "Each pupil will take part in six, hands-on scenarios, some involving role-play.
"Hopefully this will bring home the reality of possible everyday situations and what they should do if such an occasion arises."
