AN 83-year-old woman was left shaken, distressed and bruised after her handbag was snatched in broad daylight on Monday.
The pensioner was walking along Parchment Street just before midday with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter, when a red Metro car slowed down behind her and the occupant snatched her handbag before driving off.
The OAP was left with bruising on her forearm, and her black leather bag, containing a purse, more than £100 in cash, bank cards and passport, was stolen.
Det Con Paul Jeans said: "I would like to hear from anyone who may be able to identify those responsible for targeting this elderly and vulnerable victim who was visiting the Winchester area and has been left extremely shaken and distressed."
Police are linking the theft to a similar incident in Otterbourne on March 13, when an 84-year-old's bag was taken.
