CHRISTINE Hall starred in the finals of the Banister Park club championships.
The Hampshire Atherley Trophy bowler collected four trophies, including the ladies' singles which she retained with a 21-14 victory against Yvonne Bott.
Hall also captured the pairs with Kay Prebble (17-16 in a thriller against Pat Weeks and Midge Pitter) and the triples with Sue Murrey and Margaret Darkin (23-4 against Di Chilcott, Hazel Schwodler and Olive Smith) as well as the mixed pairs with Mick Nash (18-16 against Neville and Eileen Scovell).
However, her hopes of a five-timer were dashed in the mixed fours where, playing alongside Monica Emery, Nash and Peter Emery, she lost 18-14 to Jean Sait, Val Dibben, Derek Read and Barry Bendall.
Mark Hammond, pictured, took the men's singles for the third consecutive season overcoming an early deficit to beat Bendall 21-9 but Bendall made no mistake in the triples landing the trophy for the fourth year on the trot alongside Trevor Comley and Denny Murrey 17-12 against Phil Wood, Nick Wood and Paul May.
Cliff Higgins and John Joslin defeated John Laidlaw and Steve Whitehead 20-17 in the pairs while Dave Moore, John Halliday, Brian Barber and Andy Anderson beat last year's fours winners Ken Prior, Derek Clare, Stuart Martin and Derek Walker 25-19 in a strange game as Walker won only four ends but collected a six, seven, four and a two.
John Joslin sank Alf Smith 21-16 to become veterans' champion and Smith also missed out with Denny Murrey and Trevor Comley (subbing for Colin Pitter) in the senior two-wood triples when pipped 21-20 by Graham Dowse, Mike Hutt and Raj Kapur.
Smith and co clawed back a 15-5 deficit and looked likely to clinch victory before Raj Kapur trailed the jack for a four on the penultimate end.
Chris Prior retained the under-25 singles 10-5, 6-5 against Nick Wood. Trailing 5-3 in the second set 3-5 Prior drew three woods perfectly to the jack on the final end to clinch the match just when a third set appeared on the cards.
The under-17 triples went to Lucy Allen, Emma Penny and Luke Farmery 23-9 against Joss Shave, Russ Nunn and Paul Janaway.
