THERESA Darnell-Langton rounded off her magnificent indoor season with a double on the international stage at South Shields.
The Loddon Vale bowler teamed up with Patricia Smith to carry off the British Isles pairs title and helped England retain the Home International crown with three victories out of three.
Darnell-Langton won the English pairs with Wendy Merchant at Nottingham this season but as their partnership has ended she teamed up with Smith who is president of West Berks, the club Darnell-Langton represented in this season's national competitions.
The new duo were an instant success, beating Scottish champions Sharon Leitch and Lorraine Malloy 19-12 in the semi-finals before crushing Welsh title-holders Jenny Davies and Betty Morgan 25-10 in the final.
Carol Ashby - the Hampshire outdoor player who won the indoor singles - swept through to her final with runaway victories against Scotland's Sandra Rennie (21-12) and Muriel Wilkinson of Ireland (21-3) but lost 21-17 to Alison Merrien from the Channel Islands.
Darnell-Langton continued her winning form in the Home Internationals when she helped England gain an important 143-97 triumph in their opening match against Scotland.
Those two countries inevitably fight out the title at the end of the tournament but the fixture was switched to the first game this time before England polished off Wales (118-91) and Ireland (126-78).
