A new play starring international film star Susannah York, will be at The Mayflower for one week from Monday.
Based on Rosamunde Pilcher's bestselling novel, The Shell Seekers is a heart-rending story of a modern English family and the secrets, passions and heartbreak that have held them together for three generations.
It is also a story of an ancestral legacy which threatens to shatter the family's very existence.
Recuperating after a heart-attack, Penelope Keating looks back on her life and takes comfort in a painting done by her father.
Having discovered the true worth of their grandfather's work, her children are keen to gain their inheritance early but Penelope has other ideas and is determined to put her life in order before anyone gets what is due to them. What follows is a tale of love, courage and determination.
Susannah York is one of the country's most celebrated actors. She is a star of stage and screen and her movies include A Man For All Seasons, Killing Of Sister George, Superman, and an Oscar-nominated performance in They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
Tickets for The Shell Seekers, which runs from April 24 to 29, are available from the box office on 023 8071 1811.
