FAMILIES with twins and triplets have met up for friendly advice and support for years - but now the Basingstoke Twin Group is facing a volunteer crisis.
The network started in 1980 and has more than 65 families on its books, but it desperately needs more helping hands, including a new chairman.
"It's an absolute lifeline for families with multiple births and it would be such a shame to see it close," said mother-of-two Claire Ratcliffe.
"When I was pregnant, it was very comforting to talk to other parents who were in the same situation and faced similar problems.
"Quite a few families have gone through fertility treatment and for them it really helps to talk not just about having twins but also about their experiences prior to having children."
Despite a record number of members, the twin group is struggling to recruit volunteers to help organise events and meetings and to help out with administration.
The group is desperately looking for a new chairman and a treasurer as the current leader, Kerry Webb, is stepping down after four years.
"There are so many jobs going, but if no one steps forward, we will have to close," said Mrs Webb. "We need a lot of help from parents."
As well as a toddler group meeting on Monday mornings, the twin group offers support and advice to new parents and organises parties and social events throughout the year.
Annual membership costs £5. For more information, contact Claire Ratcliffe on 01256 357059.
