Sir.-I write to clarify the position on funding for Overton halls ("New hall misses out on developer's cash", Gazette, April 6).
It is a complicated situation.
The decision made by the Overton United Halls Group was to recommend that the borough council gave the first £140,000 of developers' contributions to community facilities to Overton Community Association, not to give us £280,000.
This decision was made by the group unanimously, including the representatives of St Luke's Hall.
The reason is that we are ready with our refurbishment plans for the community centre and hope to start work this summer, while St Luke's still are working on their proposals.
When St Luke's are ready they will have the opportunity to apply for whatever funds are then available.
The total size of the development "pot" is anticipated to become £280,000.
-Paula Baker, Chair, Overton Community Association.
