Sir.-On Monday, April 10, at approx 6.50am, I was involved in a serious accident on the M3 between junction six (Basingstoke) and junction five (Hook).
My stationary car was hit from behind at considerable speed, resulting in it hitting a Transit minibus in front before crossing the other two carriageways and ending up in a ditch at the side of the motorway.
An Argos delivery lorry was first on the scene and the driver and his colleague were first to come to my assistance and called the emergency services.
I'm not sure which Argos depot they were from but I'd be very grateful if you could pass on my sincere thanks to them for stopping to help.
Had I been more seriously injured, their swift actions could have saved my life.
It's a sad reflection on society today - in particular the rest of the drivers on the motorway at that time - that no one else stopped to give assistance or offer to act as witnesses.
Thanks also to the emergency services at the scene and good wishes to the occupants of the other vehicles, who I believe are all from the Southampton area.
-Trevor Rose, South Ham Road, Basingstoke.
