JIMMY Williams: More than 200 people attended the funeral of Jimmy Williams at St Peter's Church, Brimpton, last week, and all came to pay their respects to a great man.
He was a man who was well respected among the showmen's community, where he carried out a lifetime of work.
He once showed me some of the fine paintings he had done on his own steam carousel.
Both he and Bunch, his wife, always made visitors welcome in their home, and a 15-minute chat would often end up with me leaving more than two hours later after being fed and watered (tea actually), having chatted and listened to stories of Tadley and life.
He will be greatly missed by Bunch, their daughter Patrina and two grandchildren, as well as his many friends.
ANNE Rain: It is also with sadness that I report that Anne Rain has passed away.
Anne could often be seen around the town with her guide dog.
She used to visit Burnham Copse School, accompanied by her dog, to talk to the children about her life and how the guide dog assisted her in her every-day life.
WALK of Witness: Good Friday's Walk of Witness went well.
The walk started at the United Reformed Church, then proceeded down the A340, stopping for prayer and singing at various places, and finishing at St Michael's Church, where more than 100 people attended a service.
Afterwards, hot drinks and hot cross buns were served in the church hall.
HEATH End Gardening Club: Has its annual sale on April 29, at The Hurst Community College, from 11am to 1pm.
