CHURCH of Christ the King: The service for Maundy Thursday, conducted by the Bishop of Winchester, was well attended on April 13.
The service commemorates Jesus and the disciples at the Last Supper. After supper, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.
Following his example, at our church on Thursday, April 13, the Bishop of Winchester, the Right Reverend Michael Scott-Joynt, washed the feet of members of his congregation.
It was encouraging to see unity between Roman Catholic and Church of England members on this occasion.
Easter Sunday at the church reminded us of what Easter is truly about.
BASINGSTOKE Baptist Church: On Tuesday, April 11, beginning at 12.30pm, it was time again for delicious soup, fruit and cakes.
Afterwards, people saw part two of the video based on St Luke's Gospel.
In it, we saw Jesus and the disciples at the Last Supper. We followed Jesus when he was carrying the cross and saw him nailed to the cross. On the third day, the Angel said: "Why look for the living among the dead?"
GRAFFITI on underpass: I was asked for work to be done to improve the underpass beneath Brighton Way.
This begins on the Stanford Road side and passes beneath the road, joining a path behind houses in Lehar Close and Verdi Close, where people walk to ASDA.
I have contacted officers at the borough council to ask for graffiti in the tunnel to be cleaned and glass and litter on the path to be cleared up.
I hope there may be a longer-lasting treatment to reduce graffiti and I will consult the council further about this.
