BASHLEY need snookers to lever themselves into the Ryman Division One play-off picture, despite cruising to a 3-1 win over basement boys Corinthian Casuals.
Goals from Richard Gillespie, Steve Riley and Danny Gibbons sealed the points for Bash, despite Matt Simmons pulling one back for relegated Casuals.
But Kingstonian's 5-0 win over Lymington and New Milton means they are three points ahead of Bash in the final play-off berth with just one game remaining.
Crucially, they have an 18-goal superior goal difference.
Player boss Riley joked: "We've still got a chance - we just need to win our last game 9-0 and hope Kingstonian lose 9-0!
"We were relying on other results going our way over the weekend and they didn't.
"But we've done well to keep the season alive up until the penultimate game. When I took over in October, you would have thought it was pie in the sky to be talking about getting in the play-offs and we've come close.
"I could not have asked for more from the players and the people behind the scenes at the club."
Gillespie started the ball rolling by netting after 18 minutes.
Simmons' volley provided the equaliser on the hour mark, but Riley drilled home from 12 yards five minutes later when Jimmy Anderson's shot was blocked.
Gibbons wrapped up the scoring with 20 minutes left as Mark Preston's shot ballooned up off the Casuals keeper to give the big striker an easy task.
Riley said: "You look back at certain games where we should have picked up points, but you always tend to forget the hard-fought wins away from home where we nicked a few 1-0s.
"But I'll be looking to keep hold of the bulk of the squad for next season. I'll be talking to people about contracts in the next few days and I'll try and add a couple in the right areas.
"It is important we keep our top players and give us some extra depth to compete right from the start of next season."
