A GROUP of Hampshire schoolchildren will be taking part in their own World Cup football challenge as they attempt to set a new record.
Sixty pupils at Toynbee Secondary School in Chandler's Ford will be teaming up with the South Coast England Fans, one of the official England supporters' clubs, to set a new world 'keepy uppy' record.
They will be among 700 children from 15 schools across the country attempting the new world record simultaneously.
It currently stands at 446 and was set in England in June 1999.
Tim Murray, of the South Coast England Fans, nominated Toynbee School to take part in the challenge.
He said: "We're delighted that children from Toynbee Secondary School are joining hundreds of others throughout the country in a challenging event that highlights the importance of teamwork and co-operation.
"It will also be fun and has the added bonus of raising funds for an extremely worthwhile cause."
