A TEAM of friends from Warsash are taking in the challenge of a lifetime to raise money for charity.
In June, the team of 14 are hoping to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in less than 30 hours all for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
They are being spurred on by Melanie and Matthew Hall, the son and daughter of MND sufferer, Neville Hall, 58, from Warsash, who was diagnosed with the illness last year.
Melanie said: "Dad has amazed us all with his courage and ability to welcome each day still smiling. Unfortunately there is no cure and little research into this disease, which is why it is so important to support the work of the MND Association."
The team has set up a website and hope to collect up to £10,000 before they go on the Three Peaks Challenge and have already raised almost £4,000. Neville, a former merchant navy officer and chief surveyor at a top London marine insurance company was fine up until last year, when he was struck down with the disease.
Now he is unable to move around without assistance and only recently members of his church, St Mary's in Warsash, chipped in to buy a specially modified vehicle for his family.
There's a charity event and auction on Tuesday, May 16 at Rumours Restaurant in Warsash.
