STOCKBRIDGE parish council is appealing for six more voluntary community responders to join their village accident response unit.
The scheme sees community responders being on call to attend accidents and emergencies and take charge until the ambulances arrive.
"We ideally need about 10 volunteers for this scheme to run properly," said council chairman David Baseley. "We already have four but we need another six to get it off the ground."
When the scheme is up and running, the parish council will try to organise a rota for the volunteers.
There will also be a mobile phone to pass between the community responders when they are on call.
"Age doesn't come into it - you can be 95 and still do it," added Cllr Baseley.
If you are interested in becoming one of the Stockbridge community responders, or just want to know more, contact Cllr David Baseley on 01264 810409.
