A RUGBY club has a four-figure sum for a schoolboy who broke his neck in a match.
Tottonians staged a charity match between the ladies team and a side of former veteran players.
The match between the women, average age about 30, and the men, aged about 57, was a 20-20 draw.
Proceeds from the event will go towards physiotherapy for Patrick Arnott, 13, who was seriously injured playing for the under-13s last September.
Patrick has made a good recovery but has been told he will not play physical sport again. He took a conversion kick for the ladies which unfortunately missed.
Judy Searle, social committee vice-chairman, said: "After the story in the Echo we received a £1,000 donation from a local businessman who's asked to remain anonymous. Today should raise another thousand.
The cash raised will help pay for Patrick's treatment.
