A MISSING parrot has been found dead by an Echo reader who read reports of her disappearance.
Chatty five-year-old parrot Lucy went missing, feared stolen, after burglars ransacked her owner Trudy Chivers' Thornhill, Southampton, home.
Trudy's mum Sally, who was looking after her home whilst Trudy is away on holiday, found Lucy's cage open and the green parrot gone, along with a DVD and video player and a PlayStation2.
She said a neighbour in Tatwin Crescent, near Trudy's home in Heywood Green, had phoned up to say he had found Lucy dead in his garden.
"It looked like she had been attacked by crows, but it was definitely Lucy," she said.
"He had seen the report in the Echo - at least we know what happened to her."
The story could still have a happy ending. A keen bird keeper and breeder, says he'll offer a parrot to Trudy to replace Lucy.
