TWENTY Winchester students are hoping to wing their way into the Guinness Book of Records by playing basketball for 48 hours.
The students past and present from Peter Symonds College hope to smash the record of 40 hours and three minutes, held by an Irish college. Organiser Toran Williams said: "We will play for one hour periods with subs and a five-minute rest between sessions."
Money raised will go to Naomi House, a children's hospice in Sutton Scotney. Joint organiser Simon Ross added: "We are really excited about the prospect of getting the world record, especially when it is in aid of such a great cause."
The record attempt will take place on the weekend of May 5 to 7 in the Mercers Sports Hall at the college.
Anyone wanting to sponsor the team should contact the marketing office at Peter Symonds on 01962 857553.
