GEORGE BURLEY'S 2006/07 revolution was due to start today with the permanent signing of Polish striker Grzegorz Rasiak.
The 27-year-old striker has netted four goals in 13 Championship appearances for Saints since arriving on loan from Tottenham towards the end of the January transfer window.
His partnership with the rejuvenated Ricardo Fuller was responsible for eight goals in Saints' last six games of 2005/06 - with Rasiak scoring two of them in the 2-1 win at Stoke.
Saints are believed to be paying Tottenham £2m in total for the 6ft 3in striker who is tonight part of his country's squad for a friendly with Lithuania - though that sum also includes the loan fee.
That means Tottenham get their money back on the player they bought on the final day of the August transfer window last summer from Burley's former club Derby.
Rasiak netted 16 times under Burley as the Rams reached the play-off semi-finals 12 months ago, and hit two in six starts for Derby this season before moving to White Hart Lane.
He made five league and cup starts for Martin Jol's side, plus another four as a sub, but failed to score.
He only completed 90 minutes twice and in two of his sub appearances came on in the 89th minute.
It would be no surprise if Burley started the first game of next season with Rasiak and Fuller still up front.
Both are proven at Championship level - Fuller belted 17 league goals for Preston in the second tier in 2003/04 - and Burley has been fulsome of his praise of the pair.
After the game at Stoke, he said: "Grzegorz and Ricardo have formed a dangerous partnership of late.
"They both work so hard for the team, not only scoring goals.
"It's important for any side to have that threat going forward. They're a handful.
"They've both got good qualities. We've got a lot of young strikers and we've tried quite a few partnerships and it hasn't been quite right."
Dexter Blackstock has been one victim of the Rasiak-Fuller combination working.
The 19-year-old scored the first three goals of Burley's Saints career, but hasn't completed 90 minutes since the 2-1 loss at Plymouth back on January 31.
