IT was a day when Ground Force met The Apprentice for staff at B&Q in Hampshire.
As part of a team building exercise, the team arrived at Shakespeare Junior School in Eastleigh with only one day to design and create a workable vegetable patch. Designed to be used by pupils at the school to grow their own healthy produce, it is hoped the new patch will also encourage children to think more about the food they eat.
"This is going to be a great benefit for children at the school," said teacher Simon Taylor. "We intend to use it throughout the year by planting seeds, harvesting foods and then learning about them in the classroom before the children can actually eat something they have grown themselves."
The school, situaled in St Catherine's Road, won the team of B&Q staff after applying to the company with details of their healthy schools programme.
