THEY may have been out of breath as they crossed the finish line in Winchester, but at least they knew their efforts will have helped prevent others feeling the same way.
The walkers taking part in the Allergy, Air and Respiration Charity (AAIR) Three Castles Walk had just completed a 60-mile four-day trek through the Hampshire countryside to raise money for the organisation.
They were met at the end of their journey by TV gardener and charity supporter Charlie Dimmock, pictured centre front, who welcomed them close to Winchester's historic West Gate.
The walk saw the participants retrace the route King John took in the 13th century from Windsor Castle to Winchester Castle, stopping at Odiham Castle on the way.
The charity is based at Southampton General Hospital and was set up to raise money for research into what causes asthma and allergies, and to find cures for those suffering.
AAIR fund-raising assistant Nicky Williams said: "The research department we help fund in Southampton is one of the best in the world. We are making a real difference."
