The stars and the sun shone at Corhampton Golf Club last week when almost £4,000 was raised through a Celeb-Am for New Forest based charity Honeypot.

The likes of 1966 World Cup winner Alan Ball, Saints legends Jimmy Case and Jason Dodd and BBC South's Tony Husband all lent their support to the event.

Combined with a course in top condition and the generosity of the amateur participants in entering teams and bidding for sporting memorabilia at an auction held after play, the day was an unqualified success.

Corhampton club captain Alan Feltham was delighted with the sum raised for Honeypot. "Raising more than £3,800 is a wonderful effort and I'm thrilled it's going to such a worthy cause.

"I'd like to congratulate everyone at Corhampton who has helped organise the event and all the celebrities who played and donated auction items.

"Thanks also to the Hampshire PGA professionals who stepped in at the last minute to captain some of the teams."

Honeypot gives respite care to severely disadvantaged children between the ages of five and 12 and regional fundraiser Sarah Quinn, who attended the golf day, was taken aback by the amount raised, adding: "The money raised will help make a difference to Honeypot children. It's amazing to think so much has been raised in a single day."
