AFC FREEMANTLE twice came from behind before winning the Drew Smith Southampton League Junior Plate competition 4-2 against S & B.

And 30 years to the day since he received the FA Cup at Wembley, Peter Rodrigues this time handed over some silverware when he presented the trophy to the winners.

S & B had taken the lead early in the second half when Calvin Weeks latched onto a Ben Watts through ball to score from a tight angle.

Freemantle immediately upped their game and Aaron Rawlings twice made last-ditch clearances before S & B keeper Stuart Channell brilliantly palmed over a Roy Alexander effort.

But an equaliser was inevitable and came when Alexander burst through but, instead of shooting, unselfishly set up Tim O'Brien to fire home.

Freemantle keeper Graham Emmett forced extra-time when he plunged full length to save from Weekes late on.

Weekes, though, was not to be denied a second time and he put S&B ahead early in extra time, coolly turning his marker before slotting past Emmett.

Freemantle equalised again soon after as Adam Gelder blasted in a free-kick from fully 35 yards.

John Ellard then broke down the right flank and set up sub Matt Forse put his side ahead for the first time.

Mike Butler added a fourth after a defensive clearance from man-of- the-match Gareth Spring caught a tired S&B defence out.

l OTTERBOURNE A lifted the Drew Smith League's Roy Wightman Trophy after a 1-0 win against a strangely lacklustre Hythe Aztecs Reserves.

The only goal came in the first half when Hythe keeper Mark Sandy saved well from Dan Pervin, only for Brian Ryves to fire the rebound home.

Hythe almost equalised before half-time, first when defender Jason Dukes saw a shot pushed away for a corner by Mike Brouch with Phil Bolson heading the resultant flag-kick against the Otters bar.

In the second half, Jeff Cull had a late opportunity for Aztecs with a free-kick but Broach saved well.

Seconds later, at the other end, Sandy sent a goal-kick straight to opponent Dan Porter, but his shot was narrowly wide.

Steve Waterman sent a last-ditch header just wide, but an Aztecs equaliser would have been unjust.

The Otters, superbly marshalled by veteran midfield general Ian Houghton, deservedly took their first ever Cup triumph.

Stuart Munro presented the trophy on behalf of league sponsors Drew Smith Group.
