Come and support Jacko!
Winchester City Football Club are holding a "Testimonial Day" at the Denplan City Ground on Saturday (May 6) on behalf of their former player Michael Jackson.
"Jacko" suffered an horrendous injury earlier in the season, breaking his leg in no fewer than seven places, which very nearly resulted in the need for the amputation of his leg. This injury has forced Jacko to retire from football at the age of 26 - and he is unlikely to ever walk properly again. Needless to say, he is also unable to work.
Jacko is a well known and respected local footballer. He has played for Weymouth, Winchester City, Lymington & New Milton, Bashley, Totton, Andover, Kings Somborne and Mottisfont during his career. Each and every one of his former clubs will testify to his popularity.
On Saturday, City will host a day of celebration of his playing career. The day will commence at 2pm with a ladies six-a-side match, and will be followed at 3pm with a game between sides chosen from players who were Jacko's ex-team mates.
After the match, there will be an auction of sporting memorabilia - including some valuable signed shirts. There will also be a barbecue and a disco in the early evening.
Admission to the day will cost £5 - with accompanied children (under 16) free of charge.
A bouncy castle will be on hand for the younger members of the family throughout the afternoon.
