For the second time in three weeks, the Southern Electric Premier League cricket programme was badly affected by the wet weather.

All five Premier Division 1 matches at Alton, Bashley (Rydal), BAT Sports, South Wilts and the Hampshire Rose Bowl, where the Academy were due to play Liphook & Ripsley, were washed out.

Only three of the 19 scheduled games were played - at Havant, Hambledon and Portsmouth.

In the first three weeks of the season, 29 of 57 planned SPL games have been either abandoned or postponed, writes Mike Vimpany.

Only a handful of Hampshire League games survived, with Brad Lister taking a career-best 8-28 as Fawley (202-6) beat County Division 1 rivals Flamingo (136) by 66 runs.

In CD2, Queenslander Ryan Hale scored 92 as Alton II (219-9) won by 106 runs at Ellingham (113), while New Milton II trimmed Burridge II by 30 runs.

The two CD3 matches which beat the weather produced wins for Pylewell Park and Shrewton.

In Regional South, regular Sarisbury Athletic wicketkeeper Simon Orr dropped down to the club's 2nd XI and struck 128 of his team's 240-7.

But he failed to halt big hitting Sean Whiting, who cracked 98 not out as Twyford romped home by three wickets.

l Four BAT Sports players are included in the Southern Electric Premier League side to play the Isle of Wight Cricket Board in a 50-over representative match at Bashley (Rydal) on Bank Holiday Monday, May 29, 1pm.
