FAMILIES across the region are being invited to join the excitement of the annual Keen 2B Green Fun Day at Bursledon Brickworks, Swanwick, on Sunday, June 11.

Now in its third year, the event, from 10am to 4pm, aims to show children and adults fun ways to help the environment and save money by learning to be greener.

It is organised by Fareham Borough Council in conjunction with Eastleigh Council, Gosport Borough Council, Southampton City Council and Hampshire County Council.

The family fun day promises to be an assortment of enjoyable activites and entertainment with experts on hand to offer advice and great ideas for living a more sustainable life.

Activities on the day are designed to appeal to all the family, young and old alike, and range from making puppets, racing a model solar energy car, face painting, active displays, hands-on theatre productions, arts and crafts and a recycled textile fashion show.

There is also a chance for someone to win a drive in a bio-ethanol-fuelled Ford Focus.

Eastleigh Council's Cabinet member for the environment Louise Bloom said: "The Keen 2B Green Fair is a family day out that encourages visitors to learn more about the benefits of living a greener lifestyle in an interesting, fun and informative way.

"There are plenty of activities for children and lots of money-saving tips for adults. Come along to the event and learn something new about being greener.''

Tickets for the event cost £3 for adults and £1 for children. For more information about the event ring 01489 576248.
