HE'S one of Southampton's favourite sons.
Comedian Benny Hill was one of the 1970s most recognisable TV personalities.
Now, it seems that growing up in the 1970s had a profound effect on Conservative party leader David Cameron.
The Tory hopeful has revealed his childhood musical hero is none other than our best known comic.
Mr Cameron is due to tell Sue Lawley on BBC Radio Four's Desert Island Discs programme to be aired this Sunday that there is only one song he can remember all the words to - and it turns out to be Benny Hill's hit Ernie, the Fastest Milkman in the West, which was recorded in 1971.
But during the interview Mr Cameron says: "When you get asked to sing a song, this is, I am afraid, the only song whose words I can remember."
