WELLOW FC are to move up to Division 3 of the Wessex League for the coming season after finishing third in the Southampton Senior Premier League.

They are taking the place of Netley Central Sports, who are voluntarily stepping down to Hampshire League 2004.

Elsewhere, four clubs will be promoted to Division 1 for next season.

Three SWL teams - Andover, Thatcham Town and Winchester City have gained promotion to step 4 of the non league pyramid, while Portland United are to return to the Dorset Premier League. They're set to be replaced in Division 1 by Brading Town, Downton, Horndean and Ringwood Town. All four finished in the top ten in Division 2 and have the necessary ground grading to enable them to be promoted.

Locks Heath, who won Division 2 last season, still have to have their ground grading confirmed. It's proposed that Laverstock & Ford and Verwood Town will be promoted to Division 2.

All of these proposals are being put to member clubs at the Wessex League's annual meeting on June 18. It is thought unlikely that there will be much opposition to the plans, as there are no 'losers' in the reshuffle.

No decision regarding relegation to Division 3 has yet been made. Bishop's Waltham Town and Whitchurch United, who filled the bottom two places, are the clubs most at risk.
