HE’s the youngest person to have conquered the seven highest mountains in each continent, including Everest.
No stranger to facing mountain top dangers, 23-year-old Rhys Jones is preparing to embark on another climbing challenge today.
As the leader of Copythorne Scout Group, 2nd New Forest North, he will lead scouts and guides on a walk up New Forest’s Stagbury Hill – all 60,000 mm of it. Together Rhys and the group, which this year celebrates its centenary, are looking forward to savouring the hill-top views. Members of the public are also invited to join in tonight’s climb from 6.40pm. The event will help to raise money for the Hampshire Air Ambulance and the Parkinson’s Disease Society.
Rhys said that people taking part in the challenge would be invited to make donations to the two charities.
Record breaking Rhys, from Bartley, became the youngest person to ever complete the Seven Summits Challenge and even celebrated his 20th birthday on Everest’s summit.
