YOUNG visitors to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu have been getting an action-packed taste of life in the Army.

The youngsters had a chance to see some of the Army's transport and loading vehicles and learn some of the disciplines of military life.

Dressed in army uniform with camouflage paint on their faces, the young soldiers were put through their paces in a mock patrol and attack from jungle and desert bases.

Commanded from Beaulieu HQ via their personal radio headsets, the recruits were led through their mission to capture an enemy base.

Corporal Carl Hall, from 51 Squadron at the Marchwood based 17 Port and Maritime Regiment, said: "We get a fantastic response each time from both the children and their parents.

"The kids really love dressing up and acting like real soldiers! It is also nice for us to get out and talk to people about life in the modern Army. I think a lot of the kids will think seriously about a Army career when they are older."
