FIREFIGHTERS turned out in force to make one of their crew member's wedding day extra special.

Antony Hurle and his bride, Amanda Hatch, were treated to a guard of honour after their ceremony at Romsey Abbey.

The newlyweds then climbed aboard a classic 1976 Bedford fire engine to take them to their wedding reception at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters in Eastleigh.

Romsey Fire Station is a real family affair. Antony's father John is the station's watch manager and has been a firefighter for 34 years. Antony is a retained firefighter at Romsey and a full-time crew member at Eastleigh.

John's wife Phyllis is also involved at the station as a maintenance cleaner and is also a member of the fire service emergency catering crew.

Hairdresser Amanda, from Nomansland, wore a full-length ivory dress with a train decorated by crystallised sequins and carried a bouquet of cream roses and champagne sequins.

Her bridesmaids were her sister Rowena and Antony's sister Kate, and her daughter Ellouise. The couple's three-month-old daughter Olivia was also part of the big day, as were Antony's brothers, Paul and Craig, as best man and ring bearer respectively.

Following the service, conducted by the Vicar of Romsey Abbey Canon Neil Crawford-Jones, the couple were saluted by an archway of firemen's axes hoisted by Antony and his father's fellow crew members.
