POLICE are hunting a man who tried to entice a Southampton schoolgirl into his car.
The 16-year-old girl was walking along West End Road, Bitterne, near to St Francis Avenue at about 1.10pm yesterday when a car pulled up alongside her and the driver tried to get her to talk to him.
When the girl took no notice he drove away but then came back again a few minutes later and this time tried to entice her into the car.
She refused and ran home, and the man drove off down Selbourne Road.
Police are keen to trace this man or anyone who may have witnessed him approaching the teenager or acting suspiciously in the Bitterne area.
He is described as aged about 40 and of Asian or Arabic appearance, with short black fluffy hair.
He was driving a small, light blue three-door hatchback vehicle.
Anyone with information should call Bitterne CID on 0845 045 4545 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
