THE Mayor of Fareham has named his two charities for the coming year and will be officially launching his appeal this weekend.
Newly-elected mayor Councillor John Bryant is offering his support to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and the Friends of Oncology and Radiotherapy Trust (FORT).
Mr Bryant, who had a quadruple heart bypass four years ago, said: "Heart disease can affect anyone whether they are seven or 70."
He added that FORT was a local charity which supports those whose lives have been touched by cancer.
He said: "The trust raises money for equipment as well as providing complementary therapies for patients and carers in the form of massage, reflexology and counselling, which can make the stress of treatment easier to cope with."
