A FAREHAM woman has devised a novel way of trying to help save the planet. She has begun crocheting old shopping bags together.
The woman who is too shy to be identified has been taking part in a campaign run by Asda Fareham to get more people recycling.
The store is collecting tin foil and old stamps and putting them to good use along with showing the public different ways they can help.
Asda spokeswoman, Trish Powell, said: "The idea of crocheting old bags together is excellent, she's produced proper shopping bags that will last a long time, little purses, peg hanging baskets and even head bands, all out of Asda bags.
"The whole purpose of our recycling campaign is to fill people with ideas on what they can do to help."
Asda Fareham is also currently collecting stamps which will be used to help impoverished African children buy wind-up radios so they can get an education.
On top of that they are also collecting tin foil cups which are being passed to the Well in Fareham where they will be used.
